Wonderland

2008
The Helen Storey Foundation, University of Sheffield, London College of Fashion & University of Ulster

Product of a groundbreaking collaboration between artist and fashion designer Helen Storey and scientist Tony Ryan, 'Wonderland' used fashion as a 'Trojan Horse' to progress a radical, two-year exploration into biodegradable materials. This project showcased the life - and death - of a collection of 'dissolving dresses', captured in a fashion film by Nick Knight.

Working as a research assistant on the project I developed fabric processing techniques, designs, photography and video contributions for several exhibitions.
I devised and facilitated a series of gallery based workshops with diverse audiences to accompany the exhibitions on themes of sustainability, recycling and textile processes.
